Kaiwa - loosely translated from Japanese meaning conversation. The intention was to angle the ends of the table creating multiple conversation lines between occupants, with this version in luxurious Black Walnut.  The biased grain direction, skewed leg direction, and crease lined edge create different looks depending on ones orientation to the table. Designed by Kirk Van Ludwig.

Shown in sustainably sourced Black Walnut and finished with a natural hard wax oil finish.

Features:
  • Contemporary dining table using natural solid wood.

  • Designed by Kirk Van Ludwig, five-time Designer of the Year finalist for Western Living magazine. A modern furniture aficionado.

Specifications:
  • 96" L x 42" W (narrow ends are 37.5" wide) x 29" H (4" thickness). Tailored sizing available.

  • Solid Black Walnut with oil and wax finish.  Also available in Douglas Fir, shown here.

  • Dimensions may fluctuate by a small amount due to wood selection (~an inch).

  • Assembles easily with provided hardware.

  • Care and maintenance: Simply use a damp microfibre cloth. We recommend Osmo wash & care to retain lustre. Avoid soap cleaners.

Why buy an Autonomous Furniture piece?
Our Environmental Philosophy and Quality Standards
We tailor. If you see something you like, but perhaps it does not quite fit your space, talk to us about what unique alterations to size and material are available.
Our furniture pieces are meant to last decades, we believe it's better to invest in a piece you love and will use for years, rather than buying cheaply made, poor faux material furniture that you'll need to replace every year or so. Our pieces can easily maintain their pristine condition.
You can put your feet up on our furniture pieces, they won't wobble. We want you to use them well, no dainty maneuvers required.
